EmpaRAAY-M Tablet is a combination medicine that helps control blood sugar levels. This medicine is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps in proper utilisation of insulin, thereby lowering the blood sugar level.
EmpaRAAY-M Tablet should be taken with food at any time of day but you should try to take it at the same time every day. The dose will be decided by your doctor. Don’t stop taking it without asking your doctor. If you do, your blood sugar levels may increase and put you at risk of serious complications like kidney damage and blindness. This medicine is only part of a treatment program that should include a healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight reduction as advised by your doctor.
The most common side effects of this medicine include taste changes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, joint pain, urinary tract infection, and yeast infections. Drinking plenty of fluids while using it will help prevent dehydration. Some people may develop fungal infections in the genital area. Maintaining good hygiene can help prevent this.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems or a urinary tract infection or if you are on water pills (diuretics). How to use
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. EmpaRAAY-M Tablet may be taken with or without food.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of EmpaRAAY-M Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
How it works
EmpaRAAY-M Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Empagliflozin and Metformin. Empagliflozin works by removing excess glucose from your body through urine. Metformin works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body’s sensitivity to insulin. Together, they lower blood glucose more effectively.

- You have been prescribed this combination medicine as it can control blood sugar better than metformin alone.
- It also reduces the risk of heart attack, heart failure or other cardiovascular events.
- You should continue to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and take your other diabetes medicines (if prescribed) along with EmpaRAAY-M Tablet.
- Take it with food to lower your chance of having an upset stomach.
- Practice good genital hygiene to prevent yeast or urinary tract infections
- It may cause your body to lose too much fluid (dehydration) or you to urinate more often. Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
- It can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Monitor your blood sugar level regularly.
- Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor, and anxious feeling.
